Williwaw’s Prayer
By
Fr. Russ Carmichael olb. OSB
Standing on the Maine rock shore.
Looking out to sea.
Dreaming that my baby
Will soon be coming home to me.
Standing on the rocks
As the Williwaw rose.
Wind tearing at my clothes
Rain-washes my face
Tears I can’t hold back
I am alone in my fate.
Waiting for my baby while she rides upon the sea.
Waiting for my baby to return home safe to me.
Waves’ crash and smash
With a sound of thunder.
The air is cold wind slaps my face.
Waiting for my baby
Looking out to sea
Upon Maine’s rocky shore.
As the Williwaw roars.
I stand here in the dark
Gazing up to heaven.
Calling on my Lord
Looking for help
With a bit of fear in my faith.
I pray these words
With each crashing wave.
Protect my baby
As she rides upon the sea.
Protect her and all her mates
As the Williwaw’s roars.
Make their seas calm
As smooth as glass.
Keep their Cutter
The Tahoma
Moving fast
Upon your sea.
Please
Dear Lord
Bring them all home safe.
Bring my Baby home
To me.
I pray
For all the families.
That have children
Just like me.
Sailing on the waves.
Guarding our shores
As the
Williwaw’s Roar.
