
The Whaling City:
Although a distant third to New Bedford and Nantucket, Massachusetts, as a
center of whaling activity in the 19th century, New London's assumption of
the sobriquet "The Whaling City" is not the usurpation a casual student of
history might at first think. For 80 years, New London had whaling ships at
sea, a record surpassed only by New Bedford and Nantucket.
Transitioning and Loving Life, T.a.L.L., is a transsexual
support group located in Southeast Connecticut. Tall is open to all
transsexual people as well as their friends, family, spouses, and
significant others, regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, gender,
or stage in transition. We offer a safe and relaxed environment in which to
share, provide, and obtain information for ourselves, our friends, and our
families regarding transition.
To promote and support a national movement to
end the use of solitary confinement and related forms of torture in US
prisons. Campaign work is realized through grassroots organizing,
research, public education, resource sharing, human rights training and
policy advocacy.
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is a

armed service of the United States, its stated mission is to protect the
public, the environment, and the United States economic and security
interests in any maritime region in which those interests may be at
risk, including international waters and America's coasts, ports, and

newly appointed, Goddard President Royce Pitkin drew on the teachings of
John Dewey in discussing plans for the new college, with vital assistance
from William Heard Kilpatrick of Columbia University's Teachers

March 31, 1962--On his birthday, Cesar Chavez resigns
from the Community Service Organization after the group refuses to commit to
organizing farm workers. He moves his wife and eight small children to the
dusty little Central Valley farm town of Delano and dedicates himself
full-time to organizing farm workers. Dolores Huerta and others later join
him.
